  1. I got up late today. I usually have my phone in another room so I have to get up to switch the alarm off, but I had it with me last night so the temptation to snooze was too great. I actually just turned the alarm off all together. ?⁣ 〰️⁣ I know waking up at 6am everyday seems unnecessary to a lot of people but I’ve come to rely on my morning routine to keep me going through the day. It keeps my mind focused, clears any negativity that’s lurking around and gets me active, so when I don’t stick to it I feel all sorts of off!⁣ 〰️⁣ Whilst I am a HUGE advocate of slowing down, and we should all listen to our bodies to know when we need to rest, we also have to be aware that a lot of the time thinking we don’t have the energy, or that we NEED a lie in, can actually our minds, tricking our bodies, into thinking we don’t need to get up, or get moving…because it is our minds that need a rest!! ⁣ 〰️⁣ So by ‘resting’ in front of the TV or even just lying in bed ‘resting’ whilst worrying about your day, isn’t restful at all. Infact it can be worse for you, because your cortisol levels are running high with no way to escape. ⁣ 〰️⁣ I know when I’m being tricked by that little gremlin, and I know meditation, breathing or exercise is what helps me, so even when I’m up late I have to fit it in somewhere.⁣ 〰️⁣ Next time your ‘body’ is telling you you need to rest, check in with yourself properly and see if it is actually your body or your mind that needs a rest. If it is your mind, meditate, breath and then get active, even if it is just a walk around the block!
